What you can expect
The practical side of a visit matters as much as the medicine. Here’s what an appointment with me actually involves.
- Time to talk properly
- Appointments that aren't rushed. Bring your list — if there's more than one thing on it, we'll agree what to sort today and what deserves a longer visit.
- A plan in plain language
- What's going on, what we're doing about it, and the next step — explained without jargon, and written down when that makes it easier to follow.
- Options you can weigh up
- When there's a real choice — a contraceptive, a test, a treatment — I'll lay out the options and the trade-offs, and the decision stays yours.
- Loose ends followed up
- I'll chase your results, arrange referrals when you need them, and tell you plainly when something is better handled by a specialist or needs urgent care.

About Amanda
Thorough, calm and genuinely interested
I’m a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a female family GP based in Maroubra. I look after women through the different stages of life, care for pregnancies as a shared antenatal care provider with the Royal Hospital for Women, and enjoy the variety of caring for whole families — from babies and children to their parents and grandparents.
As a mother myself, I take parental concerns seriously and try never to dismiss a symptom. Mostly, I want you to leave a consultation feeling heard, clearer about what’s going on, and confident about the next step.
